South African Kevin Anderson earned his second Grand Slam final berth after a marathon Wimbledon semifinal against American John Isner on Friday.

Djokovic and Nadal are due on court after John Isner and Kevin Anderson's semi-final.

A showdown between two tennis skyscrapers - with Isner topping the 6 foot 8 Anderson by two inches - predictably featured three tiebreaks and 102 thunderbolt aces but it was the 32-year-old South African who delivered the knockout blow.

Anderson will now play the victor of either Novak Djokovic or Rafael Nadal.

Dabrowski and Xu were up a break at 4-2 in the third set, but could not hold on. Isner in particularly started to appear worn out at the set wore on.

The match surpassed the previous record of 4 hours, 44 minutes when the score was tied 9-9 in the deciding set. Isner was representing the university of Georgia, while Anderson was at the university of IL.

While one might think that such a closely fought match was an enthralling display of athleticism, as the game teetered back and forth in the fifth set, the opposite was true. It was the second-longest match in Wimbledon history and longest one-day match in Wimbledon history. However, Melichar and Peschke won the next two games to seal it.

The Wimbledon semifinal between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic is their 52nd tour-level meeting, more than any other two men in tennis history.

Isner was trying to end the longest major title drought - 58 majors - for US men in tennis history.
