White House takes up fight against 'back-stabbing' Trudeau

Of allies and lies Trump ices out Canada and bends over backward for Russia Oh Canada

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro lit into Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday, saying there's a "special place in hell" for a world leader that double crosses U.S. President Donald Trump.

Trump, who departed the summit early, also accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of being "very dishonest" in his condemnation of USA tariffs.

The top White House economic adviser accused Canada's prime minister on Sunday of betraying Trump with "polarising" statements on United States trade policy that risked undermining the American leader on the eve of a historic summit with North Korea.

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (R) meets with U.S. President Donald Trump during the G7 Summit in the Charlevoix town of La Malbaie, Quebec, Canada, June 8, 2018.

The group of seven nations that make up the G7 are Canada, France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan and Italy.

Sunday a Democratic Representative from IL surprisingly sided with President Donald Trump in the White House's ongoing war of words over tariffs with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"It is not something we relish doing, but it is something that we absolutely will because Canadians, we're polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around", Trudeau said.

Trump and Trudeau have been ramping up insults ― with Trump characteristically going further than Trudeau ― as the two countries bicker over tariffs. He also announced over Twitter he'd instructed USA officials to not endorse the statement, which serves as a declaration and recap of what was decided in the meeting.

In an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," Kudlow argued that Trudeau's critique amounted to a betrayal of the G7, as well as the U.S.

The president also tweeted from aboard Air Force One that due to "Justin's false statements" the US would not sign on with the other six members of the G-7 to a joint communique that was to follow the meeting.

A Democratic congressman chastised Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday for "sabotaging" trade negotiations as the fallout from this weekend's tense G7 summit continues, lending President Trump some bipartisan support as the war of words between the two countries escalates.

Earlier that day, Trump also tweeted: "Please tell Prime Minister Trudeau and President Macron that they are charging the US massive tariffs and create non-monetary barriers".

But Mr Trump had already said he would not hesitate to shut countries out of the United States market if they retaliate against his tariffs.

British Prime Minister Theresa May, who also attended the G7 summit in Canada, stood with Trudeau on the issue of trade.

Trudeau's office responded to Trump's tweet saying "We are focused on everything we accomplished here at the #G7 summit". He described Trudeau's news conference as "sophomoric" and a "political stunt".

And German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas tweeted on Sunday that Mr Trump had partly "destroyed" Washington's trusting relationship with Europe by pulling out of the joint communique.

Any NAFTA deal will have a sunset provision of some kind, Trump said Saturday, though he indicated some people are pushing against a five-year time frame.
