What's next for LeBron James?

NBA Finals: Kevin Durant’s heroics against Cavaliers pull Warriors to brink of championship repeat The Cavaliers were swept. Now, LeBron James has a decision to make.

It felt like déjà vu.

The Warriors are in the same scenario just like last year's NBA Finals.

On Saturday, James revealed that he played the last three games of the series with a "self-inflicted" injury to his hand, incurred after letting "the emotions get the best" of him and punching a whiteboard out of frustration following Game 1. The Warriors made a comeback.

Will this be the last game?

Durant becomes the 11th player to win Finals MVP twice, joining six-time victor Michael Jordan, three-timers Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, Tim Duncan and LeBron James, and two-timers Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Hakeem Olajuwon, Willis Reed and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

This NBA season started with a sense of inevitability around Curry's Golden State Warriors, a feeling that this season was a nine-month prelude to the certainty of crowning the Warriors as champions for the third time in four years. After only four games the Warriors had finished the series and lifted the Larry O'Brien trophy. Durant played 312 possessions, over the course of which he held his matchups to a combined 33-of-65 (50.7 percent). It was apparent that with his current team he might never be able to do just that, so he left for bigger and better things.

"Even more impressive, perhaps, was the Cavs" work on defence. It wasn't enough. He scored 29 points in Game 2 and recorded a triple-double in Game 3. Golden State throttled Cleveland, holding the Cavs to just 13 points. Where Curry and Klay stuttered, KD got assistance from less-heralded contributors like JaVale McGee, Jordan Bell, and Shaun Livingston.

Durant won his second consecutive Finals MVP. The Warriors found themselves trailing by just six at halftime. Steph Curry led them in Game 4 with 37 points. It continued to be the Durant plus the role-players.

Then Warriors coach Al Attles was credited the famous quote when he said after winning the ring-clinching Game 4 win: "There aren't any old ladies going to churches making novenas for us to win. Let's just speak truth", James said before rattling off Golden State's embarrassment of riches. That day is inevitable, even if Myers, Warriors coach Steve Kerr, and the Golden State players are paid handsomely to avoid such a fate. Kevin Durant superbly led in Game 4 by scoring 43 points in 15 of 23 shooting.

But it is for moments like these that it helps to have Durant on your side. "But I know what I bring to the game". After the game, LeBron called Durant's three an "assassin play".

"What happened? Self-inflicted, postgame after Game 1". So many deals with one goal in mind beat Golden State, and now that the season is over, and a parade scheduled in Oakland for Tuesday we know they all failed. It has been well-documented that no team in National Basketball Association history has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit in any playoff series. It's hard to see the Warriors beating them in five easy games in next year's playoffs, should they meet. LeBron will be on the market in which he may very well leave Cleveland yet again.
