Watchdog Slams Comey's Handling of Clinton Controversy

Hillary Clinton DOJ Watchdog's Clinton Report Expected to Reignite Battle Over FBI Probes

Regardless of its severity, any kind of criticism of Comey in the IG's report will likely please President Trump, who took to Twitter on Thursday morning to vent his frustrations with the ongoing and fruitless "Russiagate" investigation, with Comey, and with the "fake news" media.

The report, which is not yet publicly available, concludes that Comey hurt the agency's reputation for impartiality, though it says he did not do so out of political bias, according to Bloomberg News, which obtained a copy of the report.

Horowitz also blasted Comey for failing to inform the DOJ of his July 5, 2016, press conference, during which he called out Clinton for her carelessness in using a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state but insisted she didn't break the law.

The investigation expanded to touch on an array of politically sensitive decisions by officials including Mr Comey and Loretta Lynch, the former attorney general. "Hope Report is not being changed and made weaker!"

"James Comey's legal problems continue to grow", said Chaffetz, arguing Comey divulged classified information just like Clinton did when he leaked his memos on his conversations with President Trump. We may not know that for a year or more, but it does appear that Horowitz is leaving that possibility open.

Republican critics seized on revelations from the inspector general that two FBI officials who worked on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, exchanged text messages sharply critical of Trump.

Horowitz is also expected to provide a frank assessment of how former FBI Director James Comey ignored longstanding departmental norms at key moments in the Clinton probe.

In an interview with Buck Sexton of The Hill, Sessions said the report could lead to more law enforcement officials being fired.

'If anyone else shows up in this report to have done something that requires termination we will do so'.

For months, the Strzok-Page story has drawn a great deal of political interest, primarily because their dislike of Trump and influence within the DOJ have raised questions over the integrity of the department's investigations.

"What is taking so long with the Inspector General's Report on Crooked Hillary and Slippery James Comey..."

And two other senior-level Federal Bureau of Investigation officials, Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, have come under fire for regularly trading barbs about Trump on their work phones, making Horowitz's judgment on their conduct another issue to watch.

Comey has claimed in testimony before Congress that he cut Lynch out of the loop because he considered her compromised in relation to the Clinton probe.
