Yet Dorsey still found himself on the receiving end of an online backlash to a tweet - and a later response - he fired off this weekend while promoting a feature of one of his companies' products. Cathy has since called his remarks a mistake, and reports say the fast-growing company has worked to broaden its brand image away from controversial issues as it has expanded into cities like NY and tried to cater more to millennials.

Chick-fil-A, a Christian company, is famously closed on Sundays, while Chick-fil-A CEO Dan T. Cathy has previously been open about his religious stance against gay marriage.

Dorsey's meal caught the attention of critics like journalist Soledad O'Brien, who pointed out the issue with supporting a company associated with anti-LGBTQ views during Pride Month.

Dorsey shared a screenshot on Sunday showing he had received a 10 per cent discount at a Los Angeles branch of the fast food chain. "Completely forgot about their background", which only fueled the backlash further. Many accused Dorsey of aiding Chick-fil-A's alleged bigotry.

But for all its detractors, Chick-fil-A has just as many loyal patrons who will stand up for the company's conservative, Christian values. "Apparently, that is something bad/terrible, having faith, running a decent business, never discriminated against anyone, for the "tolerance, acceptance, and inclusivity" crowd".

"It's a top notch fast food place". And trust me if the guy who waited on me yesterday wasn't transgendered, I'll eat my shoe. I'm gay and I LOVE ChickfilA. "Ridiculous. Go on and eat that Chick-fil-A and post as much as you want about it!" one person wrote.
