Trump says he will not invite NBA champs to White House

Warriors and Cavs Refuse to Visit White House LeBron James & Steph Curry Don't Want Trump Invite

In a similar situation previous year, Trump uninvited the Warriors from visiting the White House after Curry and other prominent members of the team said they weren't interested in attending a ceremony.

More recently, the White House canceled an anticipated visit by the Philadelphia Eagles after the National Football League champions tried to reschedule and said they would "send only a tiny handful of representatives". "I know no matter who wins this series, no one wants an invite anyway".

OAKLAND, CA - DECEMBER 25: Draymond Green #23 of the Golden State Warriors passes the ball over the top of LeBron James #23 of the Cleveland Cavaliers during an NBA basketball game at ORACLE Arena on December 25, 2017 in Oakland, California.

The tradition of championship teams visiting the White House has reached an abrupt stop as players and personnel voice their concerns about Donald Trump.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Trump had "made it pretty clear he's going to try to divide us. for political gain". He said he expected the newly crowned National Hockey League champion Washington Capitals to attend but added, "if they don't want to be here, I don't want them". "And if I find, and my committee finds, that they're unfairly treated, then we will pardon them or at least let them out". So therefore ain't no invite.

"I'm not surprised. It's typical of him", James, the Cleveland star, said Tuesday of Trump's decision to cancel. This is not a change in tone or new direction the White House will be taking-though I'm sure Fox "news" will play it up, lavish praise at such a benevolent president, and show how deserving he is of the Nobel prize.

Earlier this week, both James and Curry said they were not expecting an invitation this year.

"It's not surprising, hearing the news today with the Eagles", James continued. "It's a lot of things that we believe in as Americans that we don't feel that he's for".

When told about James' comment, Curry agreed with his opponent's sentiment. I think that's important.

He also said that winning a championship is much bigger than getting invited to the White House, "especially with him in it". There I said it.
