Scotland secure historic win over England

Scotland's first win in worldwide cricket over England came in their first match since they were cruelly denied a place at next year's World Cup after a poor umpiring decision and rain saw them miss out in their final qualifier against the West Indies in Harare in March.

England were all out for 365 after Scotland made 371 for five, their highest total in a one-day worldwide. Incidentally, Scotland went past the 350-run mark for the first time ever in one-day internationals.

Scotland's victory will send out a powerful message to the ICC, which voted to restrict the 2019 World Cup to 10 teams from the previous 14, which makes it far more hard for second-tier sides to qualify.

MacLeod's seventh ODI hundred was a blistering knock which featured an astounding 16 fours and three huge sixes.

"I hit it nicely", said MacLeod, who plays club cricket for Bexley in England.

Calum MacLeod's sublime, unbeaten 140 - together with strong contributions from Matthew Cross (48), skipper Kyle Coetzer (58) and George Munsey (55) - propelled Scotland to a mammoth total of 371-5, comfortably their best in ODIs.

England: Eoin Morgan (capt), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Sam Billings, Alex Hales, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood. Moeen Ali tried to fix the damage with a 33-ball 46 but England had left themselves too much to do.

Ex-New Zealand spinner Bradburn has been Scotland boss since 2014.

Next up for England is a five-match ODI series against Australia, starting at The Oval on Wednesday, while Scotland can celebrate a day to remember.
