New 200PS petrol engine for Jaguar E-Pace

Jaguar E Pace gets an entry-level petrol engine and smart suspension 2019 Jaguar E-Pace updated with new engine, bound for Oz

The system was first used on the soon-to-be-launched all-electric I-Pace and learns from a driver's habits by recognising the specific key fob and the driver's smartphone Bluetooth signal to adjust the seat, climate and infotainment systems. The vehicle will then adjust the seat, climate and infotainment settings based on that driver's usual preference.

The new E-Pace petrol engine can be ordered now, priced from £33,500.

Jaguar has updated the all-new E-Pace with a "self-learning" Smart Settings technology and an Adaptive Dynamics suspension set-up. Up to eight profiles can be set up on the Jaguar E-PACE, making it a worthwhile offering for fleets users and those who share their vehicle.

For the first time since its launch previous year, the E-Pace will be available with adaptive suspension. For example, it will heat the steering wheel in colder weather without prompting if the driver has done this in the same conditions multiple times.

An intelligent phone function will automatically surface contacts around the time the driver usually calls them, too.

Smart Settings is offered as part of Jaguar's Connect Pro Pack, which also includes a Wi-Fi hotspot and satellite navigation.

Adaptive Dynamics provides greater scope to tune the balance between handling responses and body control. The setup scans vehicle movements every two milliseconds and adjusts the stiffness of the dampers for a more composed ride and more body control.

Alongside the new engine, Jaguar's introducing clever self-learning technology dubbed Smart Settings. There's a new engine - a 200bhp four-cylinder petrol, giving 0-60mph in 7.7 seconds, 34.4mpg and 186g/km of Carbon dioxide - and Jag's "Adaptive Dynamics" continuously variable dampers now appear on the options list. The highly efficient filters are neatly integrated to the after-treatment system and trap ultrafine particulates as the exhaust gases pass through. In a petrol engine, under normal driving conditions, the trapped soot will be oxidised into Carbon dioxide and the filter regenerated whenever the driver lifts off the accelerator, Jaguar said.

Another addition to the E-Pace range is adaptive suspension.
