Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music brings the tunes to your wrist

Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music brings the tunes to your wrist Garmin announces vívoactive 3 Music, a GPS smartwatch with on-device music storage

The Forerunner 645 Music offers far more advanced running metrics than the Vivoactive 3, but it's also $150 more and lacks a touchscreen. And now the company has announced the Vivoactive 3 Music ($300), which adds built-in music to the Vivoactive 3 ($250).

The Vivoactive 3 Music has a pretty complete set of features: onboard storage for 500 songs, although they have to be sideloaded from a computer, much like the Fitbit Ionic and Versa; iHeartRadio and upcoming Deezer support for music synced from a phone; Garmin Pay contactless payments; Global Positioning System; and up to a seven-day battery life (5 hours with Global Positioning System on). When outside, you can use Garmin Pay to buy coffee and snacks and when you get back home, the SmartThings integration will let you control smart devices at home. A similar partnership with Deezer is coming soon, but we'd like to see Pandora (available on the Fitbit Versa) or Spotify. Both earn their name thanks to the built-in storage for 500 songs that you can take with you on a run, no phone needed.

While that short list of supported music services is disappointing, you can upload songs to your Vivoactive 3 Music from your computer, so if you still have a music library, you can take that with you on the go. From there, simply pair the wearable with a set of compatible Bluetooth headphones and you're off to the races.

Namely, up to 7 days in "smartwatch mode", 13 hours with the built-in Global Positioning System chip turned on, and around 5 hours in "GPS mode" with music.

The Garmin vivoactive 3 Music has a built-in Global Positioning System receiver to track your exercises.

Interestingly, Garmin claims that the Vivoactive 3 Music will also retain the week-long battery life we experienced through the original model, though we suspect this will reduce slightly the more you hammer the tunes. You can order it today for $300.
