A controversial sign posted at a Dunkin Donuts in Baltimore asks customers to report employees shouting in languages other than English.

A sign on display inside a Dunkin' Donuts store in Baltimore is causing backlash for the company.

The store's general manager had placed the sign "based on her own personal judgment" to address a "customer service and satisfaction issue", Dunkin' Donuts said in a statement to The Baltimore Sun.

And plenty more were upset about the sign after a WBAL reporter posted a picture of it to Twitter on Monday.

"If you hear any of our staff shouting in a language other than English, please call [sic] immediately with the name of the employee to receive a coupon for a free coffee and a pastry", read the sign, ending with "General Management". "Even offering a reward".

Dunkin' Donuts corporate offices actually defended and excused the manager's actions in a statement.

Now Dunkin Donuts is acknowledging the move was inappropriate.

However, there are also several customers in support of the sign, saying it addresses a real problem at that store.

Morley posted the image to Twitter around 8:30 a.m.

"They're kind and courteous and do their job", customer Reagan Greenberg told the television station. He said the sign was old, but did admit to putting up a similar sign before.
