Bucks' Sterling Brown sues Milwaukee over stun-gun arrest for parking violation NBA's Sterling Brown Claims Milwaukee PD Officer Joked About Beating J.R. Smith

Milwaukee Bucks guard Sterling Brown is suing the city and its police department because officers used a stun gun on him during his arrest for a parking violation in January.

A lawsuit filed Tuesday in federal court says officers could have simply issued a citation instead of "unlawfully discriminating against Mr". Police body cam footage of the incident shows Brown was not aggressive with the officers, who appeared to use undue force to take him to the ground.

The lawsuit also details the officers' handling of Brown's arrest. An officer yells: "Taser!"

A group of officers discussing the arrest shortly after it happened talked about "trying to protect" themselves from possible backlash over their confrontation with an National Basketball Association player and synchronized "their stories concerning what took place in the parking lot", the lawsuit said.

Police have only released the body camera video of the first officer who contacted Brown. "And, you know, take different procedures in having interactions with African American men". But additional body camera and squad vehicle videos showed the moments after officers used a stun gun on him. Included in the lawsuit are allegations that one of the officers involved, Erik Andrade, bragged about Brown being subjected to the Taser, and that he made comments about wanting to do the same to Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith. I'm hoping all of America is watching because Sterling Brown knows this is not just a problem in Milwaukee. "I just wanted to get out of the situation and get home", he said.

"I don't see what I could have done different", Brown told the Journal-Sentinel last month.

"If he makes a (expletive) complaint it's gonna be a media firestorm", an unnamed officer is heard saying, according to Fox 6 Now. "Any little (expletive) that goes wrong, it's gonna be 'ohhh MPD is all racist blah blah'".

The lawsuit accuses one of the responding officers of subsequently sharing racist posts and memes online and even making light of the encounter with Brown. "Andrade's post is an admission that he and other Defendant officers are allowed to engage in unlawful attacks and arrests of African Americans without justification and then relish such events without any fear or real discipline".

Brown was never charged with anything. The police department ordered eight officers to undergo remedial training in professional communications.
