The No. 4 seed overcame Dalila Jakupovic 6-4, 6-2 to move a step closer to a second successive final at the tournament.

This week's run is Johanna Konta's first semifinal showing since Wimbledon last year, and the first time the 27-year-old has won three consecutive matches since then (outside of Fed Cup zonal play, where she defeated Maria Joao Koehler, Anett Kontaveit and Fanny Stollar in February). But Konta did not panic and seized her chance when her opponent became more wayward, winning four games in a row to take the first set.

Donna Vekic - who beat Konta in the final of this tournament a year ago - is waiting in the semi-final this time around after a 7-5 6-1 win against Mona Barthel.

Jakupovic earned early breaks in each set but Konta did not panic and was quickly back on even terms.

First seed Coco Vandeweghe beat fellow American 7-6 (6) 3-6 7-6 (12) to set-up her own semi-final against Aleksandra Krunic, who saw off Veronika Kudermetova 6-2 6-2.

British number one Johanna Konta is through to the semi-finals of the Nottingham Open, but Katie Boulter loses to top seed Ashleigh Barty.

And Boulter is not the only homegrown talent still in the draw, with Konta battling past compatriot Watson 6-4 7-6 (7-5).

"We had a great match at the Australian Open this year where she got the better of me", world No.17 Barty said of Osaka. "She's playing very well on this surface".

Evans was one of two British players hoping to make the last four but James Ward fell 6-4 6-3 to Ilya Ivashka.
